Also, using a card with 2 serial ports also allows me to use RTTY in FSK mode using MMTTY because another problem(?) with DM780 is that it will not do FSK RTTY. I built one 'dead bug' style on the back of a DB9 connector and it easily fit into the shell. You will still need to make some sort of an interface cable to go between the PC and the rig, but they are easy to make from just about any general purpose NPN transistor and a 1k ohm resistor. I already had one, but PCI serial cards can be had for $10 from places like Newegg. Because of this, I use a 'real' serial port for CW. The problem(?) with HRD is that DM780 can not key CW on the same port that it uses for rig control.
